  • I trust you have been keeping well and that life is good. I want to tell you briefly about a truly uplifting seminar I attended over five days in Singapore last week called "The Will to Lead". It is run by an eminent consultant named Siegfried Andersen who is well known in theinternational business community for carrying out leadership training programs for the last 25 years.

    I could write pages and pages about what I learned from this seminar but I'll save that for when we have our next drink together. All I will say is that one cannot learn this in INSEAD or IMD or any other business school in the world.

    I must also say that my boss in who was the CFO of Maersk Logistics, has also been on this seminar and rates it as the best one he has ever done. After the seminar, I immediately thought of you and your organization and its people as potential beneficiaries of Siegfried's wisdom.

    Siegfried runs only one seminar a year in Shanghai and Singapore. I have taken the liberty of giving him your contact details. He may get in touch with you before his next Mumbai session. I urge you to either try it yourself or send one or two of your key deputies to attend. I promise you it will be worth every cent.   • I have had the pleasure of participating in numerous of Siegfried Andersens training programs for managers in Maersk Data starting more than a decade ago. His views on leadership, ethics and morale are in my book second to none. Still to this day, not a single working day goes by where I am not using one or more of his concepts to resolve a situation or facilitate a smooth process for the people involved. He is a world class skilled and interesting trainer with a message that does not allow the audience to neglect his messages.

    I will highly recommend any leader or leader in-spe to take any chance given to learn from Siegfried Andersen.

  • Just a short note to say I enjoyed your material at the Westin last evening, March 1. 2005.  I have worked in business and industry H.R. for 28 years and fully know and appreciate the difference between management and leadership.  A very famous Chinese emperor once referenced true leadership as when the leader has completed his job the people believe that they were responsibly for the accomplishment.  Funny how many egos get in the way of that being a reality!

    I particularly noted your bell shaped curve example...very true...I often use it humorously when talking of personal performance noting that the frightening part of bell shaped curves is that they can apply to a lot of things...e.g.,  I wonder where your personal physician or, worse yet, surgeon fell on the curve in medical school graduating class.  I have held 12 management and leadership positions in two companies in those 28 years and had international content in my work since 1988.  I am in the process of relocating to Shanghai for three years.  Over all that time I find it truly amazing how many managers (often in their minds leaders) can not make the connection between fine leadership and "plain old" management. There is nothing invigorating about management!  Leadership is fulfilling to the point of self-actualization for both leader and those under his wing. In my observation, there are few who can make that distinction. 

    You are correct in your work...it takes a partner ship between vision, mission, values and goals and passion, values and beliefs systems to have employees make a step function changes for you and translate it all to share holder value.

  • Mr. Siegfried Andersen, head of this Group, is presently (2005) in Singapore in order to set up a new division of this Group.

  • Let me just say that I have no personal involvement in this, but I know the programme and I know of the success it has had in AP Moller – Maersk.

    Siegfried Andersen is a gifted trainer, but what is more important the programme offered by his IC&T Group can be a significant contribution in the further development of leadership talents.

    For that reason I suggest that any organisation takes a look at the programme and consider it for some of them. It is worth it.

  • Victor Borge blev engang spurgt, hvilken hændelse der havde haft størst indflydelse på ham i hans lange liv. Og til de svarede han "jeg er en snemand". Det er alle de små ting, der gør os til det vi er.

    Engang imellem kommer der dog en snebold. Én af mine hedder Siegfried, og han har nogle helt fantastiske kurser. Jeg tror ikke der går en uge i vores lille virksomhed, hvor Siegfried ikke bliver citeret, brugt eller refereret til.

    Af alle de foredragsholdere og kursusudbydere jeg har set - og det er rigtigt, rigtigt mange - er han klart en af de bedste.

  • Through more than two decades I have had the opportunity to participate in Mr. Andersen’s courses. Alternatively, together we have designed and planned courses in close cooperation and hence I have sent employees to attend courses always conducted by Mr. Andersen.
